Business Objectives

  • Relocate to a larger, more modern warehouse with zero disruption
  • Upgrade the network to support the business as they grow
  • Build a unified wireless network on a platform the team already knows and trusts

Executive Summary

Lance East Office successfully moved into their new warehouse in half the budgeted time.

Office moves can be chaotic, but Lance East Office wanted this one to feel like anything but. When they relocated to a larger warehouse, the goal was simple: keep the business running while upgrading the systems at their new location.

As an existing OSIT managed IT services client, Lance East Office trusted our team to manage the technology side of the move from start to finish. This meant the LEO team could keep working right up until moving day, then arrive at a new site with a rebuilt, tested and ready-to-go network.

The technical build took 30 hours, which is half the budgeted time.

Most importantly, the move did not disrupt day-to-day operations.

The Challenges

An outdated warehouse and ageing network

The existing warehouse had become outdated and no longer provided sufficient space for the growing inventory. The network infrastructure also required an upgrade to support the company's expanding IT requirements.

When a larger warehouse became available nearby, Lance East Office needed to relocate and rebuild its network as part of the same project. The business required uninterrupted operations, while the building handover schedule introduced additional uncertainty.

The Solution

Tailored IT relocation & network optimisation plan

The OSIT team built and tested the new network before moving day, so the relocation could happen without disrupting the business.

The project included a complete network refresh for the new site, which covers switches, wireless access points, cabling, boardroom AV and printers. All equipment was configured and tested off-site in advance. The OSIT team also upgraded the printing and scanning systems to improve reliability.

After Lance East Office’s electricians completed the cabling, OSIT brought the new site online within one to two days. Staff continued working from the existing warehouse until the final day, then transitioned to a fully operational new location.

The Results

Successful relocation with no disruption

The relocation was completed without disrupting day-to-day operations. The existing site remained operational until the final day, and the team transitioned to the new warehouse within one to two days.

The technical rebuild took 30 hours (half the budgeted time).

Lance East Office now has an updated network with equipment covered by warranty, which improved performance, supportability and reliability.  The upgraded printing and scanning systems are also now more reliable, while the larger warehouse provides additional capacity for the team and the growing inventory.

"Office moves can go sideways fast if the planning isn't right. We've now done this more than once for Lance East Office, and both times it's landed on time and on budget. That's really the whole reason you'd want a partner like OSIT for something like this."
