Founded by Kerry Slingsby in 1984, Aviair operates a fleet of 33 aircraft, ranging from single-engine turbine aeroplanes to Airvan types. Their services include regular public transport, passenger charters, FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out) for mining companies, scenic flights, and customised itineraries. 

With operations across four offices and over 400 team members throughout Australia, Aviair’s foundation is rooted in providing safety and excellent service to all clients and customers in Northern Australia, whether for commercial flights or air freight.

Aviair’s transition to an enterprise-grade IT and networking solution helped them improve their IT efficiency and security across offices.

Aviair's internal teams are experiencing rapid growth, causing them to outgrow their current IT network setup. To address this, they partnered with OSIT for a tailored IT project aimed at upgrading to a more robust network that could accommodate their expanding operations in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions while simultaneously enhancing their security posture and improving performance and efficiency across all four offices.

The Challenges

Outgrown IT equipment and persistent network bottlenecks.  

Aviair had outgrown their existing IT equipment,  which led to persistent network bottlenecks in their Kununurra office. They needed to implement an IT project that could tackle various challenges, including device management, cyber security, network optimisation, and IT spending.

Although Aviair already had these measures in place, their team sought to further accelerate their IT capabilities to support ongoing growth and address the root causes of underlying issues.

The Solution

Deployed a network refresh IT project tailored to their technical requirements.

This project focused on upgrading their IT network in Kununurra to meet their growing needs and incorporate transparent components and realistic procedures to ensure both teams could meet project deadlines.

The project included optimising various aspects of their networks to enhance productivity and efficiency, as well as upgrading IT equipment, such as firewalls and switches, to support future growth while fortifying their cyber security against potential risks. 

Throughout the project deployment, OSIT provided ongoing support through its IT engineers and assigned a dedicated Virtual CIO to ensure that the transition process did not disrupt Aviair's day-to-day operations.
